Library curbside service allows you to pick up Chromebooks and other requested materials without leaving your car. It is for students, faculty, staff, and community borrowers and is available upon request.

When you come to pick up or drop off your Chromebook, electronics, or other items at Library Parking Lot C, please do not leave your car. We will come to you.  Just come up to the curb of the library sidewalk. Then you can call the circ desk at the number listed on the sign by the library curb and let us know if you are picking up or dropping off.  If picking up items, please give us your name so we can check it out to you.  We will ask to see either your ECC ID or your driver’s license to verify your identity.   Your Chromebook will be due at the end of the semester. Other items such as books and DVDs will have regular due dates so please note them on your receipt.  Electronics should be returned via curbside service. You can return books and DVDs in the book drops at any time. Please let us know if you have any questions at circdesk@elgin.edu.

Library materials such as books and DVDs will be available for checkout, but you will need to request them first. If you do not have an activated library card (your student ID), please request one using this form.

Instructions on placing a hold for pickup:

  • Search for your item in the library's catalog
  • Once you find the book you want, you will see Request underneath the title.
  • Click on Request
  • Type in your name (such as Jane Smith) and your library barcode as requested. The barcode is the long number beginning with 2 on the back of your Student ID.

Once Circulation pulls the holds, we will call you to let you know that the item(s) is now available to pick up.  Once the call is made you will have one week to pick up that item. Turnaround time for the request is typically 24-48 hours.

Once you come in or pick-up at curbside, students will have the item(s) for 3 weeks. The due dates will be printed out and placed on a slip in the item that is checked out.
