What does Emeritus Status mean?193 views

Certain past Elgin Community College faculty may be designated as having "emeritus status". The definition of emeritus is: having retired but allowed to retain the ECC title as a honor.

In order to qualify for Emeritus status, the employee must: 1. Serve in the position of Dean or higher; 2. retired from College; 3. demonstrated meritorious service, and upheld the mission, vision, values, and Strategic Goals of the College; 4. have provided a minimum of 12 years of full-time service to the College upon retirement. Note: Employees who pass away before retiring may be awarded posthumously if they meet the minimum criteria.

This status is granted by the Board of Trustees through a nomination process. If you are of emeritus status and need help accessing the library, please contact the Circulation desk at 847-214-7337 or circdesk@elgin.edu.
